Ollie Robinson ‘does not care’ how the farewell to Usman Khawaja is seen

The England bowler Ollie Robinson has said that he ‘doesn’t care’ how his celebration following the dismissal of Australia opener Usman Khawaja was seen in the Australian team’s dressing room, adding that he is “here to provide that theatre of the game” during the on-going Ashes 2023.

On the third day of the first Test, Robinson dismissed Khawaja for 141, pushing back his off stump as he descended the pitch in an attempt to smash the ball through the off side. The pacer looked to curse at Khawaja as he was having fun.<img decoding=”async” loading=”lazy” class=”alignnone wp-image-30486″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/www.theindiaprint.com-ollie-robinson-does-not-care-how-the-farewell-to-usman-khawaja-is-seen-download-2023-06-19t172650.690-11zon.png” alt=”” width=”1139″ height=”758″ />

It was meaningful for me to get the key wicket at the time since it was my first home Ashes. Uzzie performed quite well, in my opinion. At the moment, it was huge for our team to get that wicket. Don’t we all want to experience the game’s drama? I’m here to provide it to you, Robinson said.

Robinson said that it was merely a part of “the passion of the Ashes” when asked whether verbally insulting an opponent could really be regarded a part of the game’s theatricality. He cited instances in which Australian players had previously done the same to England teams.

No, it isn’t.But in my opinion, anything is possible when you’re in the thick of it and have the Ashes’ passion. All of us have seen Ricky Ponting and other Australians mistreating us. “It’s not well received just because the shoe is on the other foot,” the England pacer remarked.

When the pacer, 29, was further questioned about how the Australian locker room would have reacted to his outburst against Khawaja, he said that he doesn’t care.

To be honest, I don’t really care how it’s seen. Those are the Ashes. It’s a competitive sport. What can you manage if you can’t handle that? asked Robinson.

Alex Carey, the wicketkeeper for Australia, said that he was only made aware of Robinson’s farewell by the team’s media manager as he was making his way to the news conference area.

“I absolutely didn’t see it.Usman is silent at the moment. It’s an Ashes series, so the cricket will sometimes be fairly exciting and nasty, but I was sitting there dissatisfied at leaving because I didn’t see anything excessive. There was silence coming from our dressing room,” Carey added.

Robinson had a final 3-for-55 statistic as Australia was dismissed for 386 runs, seven runs behind England’s first-inning total.

On the first day of the Test match, the visitors scored 3.32 runs per over compared to England’s 5.03 runs per over in their first innings, and Robinson suggested that England’s aggressive style of cricket under Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum had deviated from Australia’s typically attacking style.

“We forced them to play the way they did. They now play more defensively as a result of the aggressive style of our methods, which include aggressive batting and aggressive bowling. The way we’re playing under Ben and Baz is making it happen, which is not typically something you see from an Australian team,” he remarked.

If Australia had a score to chase, Robinson said that England would ideally require a day to bowl them out: “90 overs would enable us to bowl them out. It could have been a little bit different if they had been playing defensively and for the draw as they have so far in this game.

It’s best to wait and see. The pitch is becoming somewhat worse. I have no doubt that we can take 10 wickets early and win the match if we are rested and equipped with a tougher ball.

England finished Day 3 of the match with a score of 28-2, a 35-run advantage, with Joe Root and Ollie Pope both undefeated at the bat.
