There is a very strong relationship between Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni today. This relationship is so deep that Kohli often describes Dhoni as a friend and elder brother. However, there was a time when the former Indian captain was not in favor of taking Virat into the team. Former chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar created a sensation by claiming this. Vengsarkar even says that N Srinivasan got so angry when Virat Kohli was replaced by CSK player S Badrinath in the team that he was removed from the post of chief selector.

Dhoni wanted S Badrinath in the team in place of Virat Kohli
Mahendra Singh Dhoni was not in favor of including Virat Kohli in Team India. However, later a very strong relationship was formed between Dhoni and Virat. This claim was made by Dilip Vengsarkar, who was the chief selector of the Indian team at that time. Vengsarkar had said that he was very impressed with Virat Kohli’s performance in the 2008 Under-19 World Cup and wanted to include him in the team. At that time, Indian team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and BCCI treasurer N Srinivasan were not in favor of taking Kohli in the team. Both wanted to replace Kohli with Tamil Nadu batsman S Badrinath in the team. Vengsarkar even says that due to taking Kohli in the team, he had to lose the post of chief selector.

N Srinivasan wanted to give chance to CSK player
Dilip Vengsarkar had claimed that both N Srinivasan and Dhoni were in favor of taking S Badrinath. After the completion of the selection, Srinivasan expressed his displeasure and said that S Badrinath has turned 29 years old and he did not get a chance. After this he met Sharad Pawar and a few days later Vengsarkar was removed from the post of chief selector. A few days ago, Vengsarkar, who was a member of the 1983 World Cup-winning team, expressed his displeasure over the current selection committee and said that there is no vision in the selection of players.
