Former Zimbabwean captain Heath Streak is’very much alive,’ Henry Olonga has emphasized, denying reports that he has passed away.

Tributes started pouring in earlier on Wednesday after many sources suggested Streak had passed away after a fight with liver and lung cancer.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-142066″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-chinese-national-who-mocked-xi-jinping-detained-after-entering-south-korea-on-a-jet-ski-download-2023-08-23t164714.202.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com chinese national who mocked xi jinping detained after entering south korea on a jet ski download 2023 08 23t164714.202″ width=”1186″ height=”664″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-chinese-national-who-mocked-xi-jinping-detained-after-entering-south-korea-on-a-jet-ski-download-2023-08-23t164714.202.jpg 300w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-chinese-national-who-mocked-xi-jinping-detained-after-entering-south-korea-on-a-jet-ski-download-2023-08-23t164714.202-150×84.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1186px) 100vw, 1186px” title=”Heath Streak has RETURNED! Henry Olonga Explicates the Startling News Regarding a Zimbabwean Legend 3″>

“I can affirm that Heath Streak’s demise has been significantly exaggerated, according to rumors. He just spoke to me. He was contacted again by the third umpire. People, he is very much alive,” Olonga said on X, the platform that replaced Twitter.

Olonga posted a screenshot of what looks to be Streak and him having a chat.

“Extremely lively…pse (sic) retract this runout IMMEDIATELY friend,” Strek texted to Olonga, a former colleague from Zimbabwe.

“Ha ha.Wonderful to hear. This creature rapidly developed legs. Brother, you passed away over night,” Olonga said.

The news of Streak’s health was announced earlier this year on X by the Zimbabwe sports minister. “Heath Streak is towards the end of his life. family traveling from the UK to South Africa. Now, it seems like only a miracle can rescue him. Up in prayers,” he wrote.

Streak is recognized as one of Zimbabwe’s best cricketers of all time. Between 1993 and 2005, he played for them in 189 ODIs and 65 Test matches.

Streak, a quick bowling all-arounder, finished his career with 216 kills at 28.14, making him the first Zimbabwean to capture 100 or more wickets in Test cricket. He also held the position of captain from 2000 until 2004.

Following his playing career, Streak worked as a coach for a number of teams, including Gujarat Lions, Kolkata Knight Riders, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, and Bangladesh.

However, after being found guilty of violating the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Anti-Corruption Code, Streak was given an eight-year suspension from all forms of cricket in August 2021.

Streak pleaded guilty to five counts but said he did not alter games.

“I also want to state for the record that at any point throughout our connection, I was not engaged in any match fixing, spot fixing, efforts to influence a game, or sharing information from a changeroom during a match. In a statement after the ICC ruling, Streak had said that the ICC itself had validated this viewpoint.
